Walking around I was able to see about four different slideshows that were very different from each other. It was kind of clear what each person was trying to argue through their slideshows. In each slideshows each person was arguimguing more than one point. I found people showing war and children, wars, violence, the future, media, addiction, illusion, distortion and reality verses nonreality. It was very intersting to see the kinds of images they use to represent these different topics. Some weren’t vlear as others. It took a while to understand what the image repesented. I had to look other the slideshow more than one time to understand at times.. A lot of the slideshows had images of all sorts of technology like computers, media, the web, cellphones and cameras. A common topic that I found in the slideshows was war. There were lots of images of soldiers, battles, guns and violence. One effective technique that I found was the use of self images. One slideshow the student used pictures of herslf interacting with media, she made herself part of this visual argument. The way this is effective, it gives you a different perspective, it made the creater about of the work. Another effective technique that I saw was using regualr images, such as nature then comparing it to the urban areas and the technolgy world. The way this technique was effective is allow to compare wo differnet worlds to different perspectives. It was intersting to see the other world oustide the chaoic technological world

i agree with you on looking through the slideshows a second time. some times the pictures were hard to interpret. but those were the pictures i wish i would use.
It’s definitely easier to see the effects of media when it’s being compared to something more simple like nature. People used to have fun just being outside living the simple life. But once technology’s introduced, it seems as if no one wants to go back because it just makes our lives easier and even more relaxed.
I agree that people who used themselves in the photos showed a visual argument and made it stronger. I deffinetly think we should go through them a second time, maybe people’s points would get accross more.
I also think that it was a good idea to use personal pictures within the visual argument. It helps bring the point across and shows that the media affects everyone- from our classmates to ourselves.
“It took a while to understand what the image repesented.”
I agree. I think it was especially difficult to understand some of the pictures because many people did several different topics that didn’t necessarily connect to each other.
i agree with you on the two effective stagergies. I thought the mix of self images and picutres of nature made the best slideshows. I also agree that some of the pictures were hard to understand. I feel that some of the creators were too into the project that they thought the explaination was east when it was not. This is the hard part about this project getting a point across without any writing! Good job and nice points!
